The Hublot brand, compared to many other brands in the sector, has a very recent history in fact it was founded only in 1976. It is therefore incredible how it managed to acquire an international and top-level reputation in such a short time. The founder Carlo Crocco wanted to bet on this project when he moved to Switzerland, the home of fine watchmaking.
Hublot, which failed to immediately conquer the public, owes its success to the attention it has managed to get from the royal families of Europe. His greatest admirers were King Juan Carlos of Spain and Caroline of Monaco. For the watches of the brand they can boast the nickname “Watch of the Kings”.
Right from the start it stood out for the use of extremely sophisticated and innovative materials and for avant-garde combinations. One of the reference materials is rubber from Malaysia, which was blended with original vanilla essences from the Reunion Islands. In addition, thanks to its dedicated commitment to research and development, Hublot has managed to develop unique methods of processing materials in the world. All the capabilities of the Hublot laboratories are expressed by the “Magic Gold”, the only 18 ct gold alloy in the world that is perfectly resistant to scratches. This is a real revolution in the world of precious materials because before no one had been able to work gold to make it so shiny and smooth.
Another material on which Hublot fears no comparison is rubber, which the brand uses for many of its straps and which it has had the ambition to combine for the first time with the 18 ct gold case. Since 1980 rubber has represented one of Hublot’s leading materials and all its desire to have a modern approach to fine watchmaking.
Thanks to the ability to work materials in an avant-garde way and the modern design of its timepieces, Hublot has managed to develop high-level partnerships with many prominent personalities. Chiara Ferragni stands out among the brand ambassadors, one of the most followed and appreciated digital entrepreneurs in the world. Hublot also has a special link with the world of football. In fact, in 2006 it was the first Haute Horlogerie brand to join this sport. Since then Hublot has always been present in FIFA and UEFA competitions, as the official timekeeper and official watch of prestigious clubs – Juventus, Chelsea, AFC Ajax, Benfica – and famous sports figures, Pelé, José Mourinho and Kylian Mbappé.
