IWC - Luxury watches for every occasion

Renowned Swiss luxury watch company IWC has been among the big names in the luxury watch industry since the 1930s.

From the 1936 watch, designed specifically for pilots, to the legendary IWC Mark II, to modern series such as Spitfire or Top Gun.

IWC collections such as Portugieser, Portofino and Da Vinci have also been a great success for brand lovers. The same goes for the Ingenieur and Aquatimer collections, which have also contributed to the growing popularity of IWC Schaffhausen watches.

IWC TOP GUN AND PORTUGIESER, TWO EXCEPTIONAL STORIES

IWC Shaffhausen watches all have a special history, but those of the Pilot Top Gun and the Portugieser are particularly full of charm and anecdotes.

The IWC Pilot is the reference pilot’s watch and with the Top Gun collection the brand has further strengthened the link of this model with military aviation. These watches have been produced since 2007, so their history is relatively recent, but they immediately represented an important turning point for the brand.

The name, which is also taken from the homonymous film starring an unforgettable Tom Cruise, derives from the legendary Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) academy. This academy has only one goal: to train the best pilots in flight and air combat tactics.

One of the latest references in the collection and which has a bold and enterprising character, is the IW389101. Everything in this watch recalls the world of aviation and a passion for risk. The watch features only the black color and the TOPGUN logo is present on the caseback. There is a chronograph function for hours, minutes and seconds and, at 3 o’clock, the date with the indication of the day of the week next to it.

The reference IW326901 has a more essential style. Also in this reference the black color is the master, but there are no counters on the dial and the date window is not accompanied by the indication of the day of the week. Also for this reason the dimensions are reduced to 41 mm compared to the 44.5 of the reference IW389101.

The birth of the IWC Portugieser, on the other hand, is many more years old. The clock was designed starting in 1930, at the explicit request of Portuguese traders. These skilled navigators needed a chronometrically accurate watch like the models used on navy ships. The first version of the Portuieser was a pocket watch.

Today, however, it is a magnificent wristwatch and these models are among the most desired of the brand. Among the latest releases, the reference IW371605 has conquered the faithful of the brand thanks to its bright white dial, on which the blue Arabic numerals stand out.

The bright blue dial of the reference IW371606 also did not go unnoticed. In this case the numbers are combined with the steel case, robust and solid. The black alligator leather strap and the steel case also characterize the references IW371609, IW371609 and IW371609, which have a black, green and burgundy dial respectively.

For those looking for an even more prestigious IWC Portugieser, the reference IW371611 is just right for them. This model is in fact embellished by the magnificent 18 ct red gold case together with the dark brown alligator leather strap
